The CEOLUS™ UF Difference Disintegration and Dissolution Profiles

Optimizing a product’s disintegration and dissolution profile is a priority in the formulation development of pharmaceuticals. Read on to discover what makes CEOLUS™ different and why you can trust us to take your products to the next level.

CEOLUS™ by Asahi Kasei

CEOLUS™, high-performance MCC (microcrystalline cellulose) is developed and distributed by Asahi Kasei, a diversified chemical company with close to 100 years of history and over 50 years’ experience in producing MCC. We have continually developed unique high-performance MCC products using proprietary techniques in morphology design.

The superior compactibility and flowability of CEOLUS™ offer a range of benefits for challenging solid dosage formulations, including but not limited to, reduced sticking and capping, smaller tablet size, and facilitated high dosage formulation.

Optimizing Disintegration and Dissolution

In the formulation development of pharmaceuticals, it is often challenging to meet the target disintegration and dissolution profile. Especially, in the case of generic drugs, it can be difficult to achieve a similar disintegration and dissolution profile as the original drugs.

CEOLUS™ UF, composed of highly porous MCC particles, can improve the disintegration and dissolution rates of dosage forms. (Figure 1 and 2).  This suggests that variation in MCC particle size and morphology can provide options to meet the target disintegration and dissolution profile.
