A 100% MCC sphere, Celphere™ has high sphericity and narrow particle size distribution. Also, Celphere™ is less damaged during film coating process because of its high mechanical strength. With regard to comparison with sugar spheres, Celphere™ can prevent agglomeration during film coating process because of its moderate water absorption capacity without dissolving. In addition, film coated granules with Celphere™ are more robust against external shear stress such as the gastrointestinal tract because of its insolubility. These functions and features of Celphere™ facilitates precise dissolution profiles of controlled release formulations.
